Welcome to the Eastern Iowa Community College District Nursing Program. You are entering an exciting, challenging, and rewarding profession. This program will provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to practice at the entry level in nursing practice.

The federal government mandates that vocational programs devise a method by which to assess whether learning has taken place during the program. The Eastern Iowa Community College District Nursing Department has chosen to do a pretest and compare to an exit exam to determine if learning has occurred. This exam in no way will impact on the grade you earn in any of the courses you will take. It is strictly an assessment tool.

To facilitate your taking the assessment examination, the test has been placed on the World Wide Web. The instructions for accessing the exam are as follows:

• Access the web through either Netscape 2.0 or higher or Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher
• Type the address www.eiccd.cc.ia.us
• Scroll down to Quick Access Links
• Click on Quick Access Links
• Scroll to Web CT Courses
• Click on Web CT Courses
• Click Go
• Click Course Listings
• Click All Campuses under Category
• Click Carl Perkins Test under Courses
• Enter your User Name, which is the first four (4) letters of your first name and the first four (4) letters of your last name. Use only lower case letters, i.e., if your name were Sally Smith your user name would be sallsmit
• Hit the tab key
• Enter your Password, which is the first four (4) letters of your last name and the last four (4) digits of your social security number. Use only lower case letters, i.e., if your SSN were 123-456-7890 your password would be smit7890
• Click OK

This will take you to the homepage for the examination. Once you have accessed the homepage follow the directions.

You may take the test from any computer that allows access to the Internet; computer lab, library, home computer, etc.
