The two semester Anatomy and Physiology sequence has two prerequisites
which should be successfully completed before enrolling in A & P
I:
General Biology ( SCC BIO 114A or its college equivalent) or
one
year of high school biology within the last five years
AND
Chemistry (SCC CHM 105, 110, 120, or 130 or a college equivalent
or
one year of high school chemistry within the last five years
These prerequisites are designed to familiarize the student some basic
concepts which will be applied routinely and to prepare the student for
the rigors of these courses. Life experiences or
practical/technical training in a health-related field (e.g., EMT,
massage therapy, etc.) generally provide inadequate preparation and are
not considered substitutes for the formal coursework.
Students who do not have one or both of these prerequisites must
see the instructor. They will be encouraged to complete them
before enrolling in A & P I. A student who persists in remaining
in the course will be required to sign an acknowledgment that they were
advised that they might encounter potential academic difficulties.
