Tests

Tests are designed as an evaluation tool. The student is responsible for any material in the assigned reading and assignments. There will be 2 tests worth 50 points each for a total of 100 points for the course; a midterm and a final. Tests will be taken online. You may retake one test with the last score the one that is recorded. All testing must be completed by the date specified.

Programs

There will be 13 programming assignments worth 10 points each for a total of 130 points toward your final grade. Program specifications and requirements will be provided for each assignment, and graded according to how close the programmer followed the instructions. Programs are due on the due date. Zip all of your program files and place them in the eCompanion Dropbox.

Attendance/Participation:
  • Attendance is required.
  • If you are unable to attend a class, you are to notify your instructor via emal lwalljasper@eicc.edu or voice mail 563-336-5217 prior to the start of class; and check the course website for missed work.
  • Attendance will be reported to the financial aid office and may affect your loan and or scholarship status.
  • Utilize the eCompanion site for discussion and resources outside of class.

Late Assignment Policy:
Assignments will be due on a specified date.  Late assignments will be assessed a 10% per day late penalty.  After one week the assignment will not be accepted.

Exam Make-up Policy:
If arrangements are made prior to a missed exam, students can make arrangements to take make-up tests at the testing center at the Kahl Building .  These arrangements can be made at the second floor reception area.  If no prior arrangements have been made, the student can elect to take a comprehensive final at the end of the course to replace the score for the missed exam.

Academic Dishonesty Policy:
Policies on Plagiarism/Academic Dishonesty are found in the EICCD Student Code of Conduct.

Incomplete Policy:
Incomplete grades (I) are given for work that is not completed during an academic term due to justifiable extenuating circumstances. To qualify for an "I" grade, you will need to sign an Incomplete Contract Agreement with the class instructor. Work must be completed by the date agreed upon and turned in to the instructor no later than mid-term of the following semester (not including summer sessions). Courses not completed by that time will automatically receive an "F".

Feedback Policy:

I will answer all emails and voicemails within 24 hours of receipt Monday through Friday. I ocassionally check emails over the weekend and when the college is closed. All assignments will be graded in the order in which I receive them. You can expect 24-48 hour return on assignments. Exams are multiple choice and receive immediate feedback upon completion. The above policy assumes no computer/connectivity issues.

Food and Drink:
Because of the potential damage to equipment, food and drinks are absolutely not allowed in the classroom. There is a break area just outside of the classroom.

Cell phone policy:
Before class starts, turn off or activate silent mode on cell phones and pagers. Please leave the room before answering a silent mode call.

  5. Highlight only text in your book that you NEED to find again, or that is NEW to you.
  6. Rapidly reread the chapter a second time.
